It comes with a built-in thermostat and a red light to indicate when it is heating. It can be fully submerged and attached horizontally below the waterline. The water level needs to reach the line about an inch or two below the top of the heater to function correctly. This heater is a good bargain compared to other heaters, does not need frequent relocation and stays where it is placed. The size of the tank it can cater to depends on the wattage used per gallon. It is crucial to keep a thermometer in the fish tank to monitor temperature regardless of the built-in thermostat. The Fluval Tronic Heater is made in Italy and is a product of a reliable brand. Some users, however, reported having the rubber piece on the bottom come off, making it easy to move around, but it can potentially affect usage in the long run.
