The Lakeshore Ultimate Fort Builder is a fun way to create a fort out of plastic poles and connectors. The set includes 45 poles that are 16 inches long and 25 plastic balls with 18 holes in each ball. Although a blanket is shown in the product picture, it is not included. The instruction book shows 13 possible fort builds. The poles are not strong enough to climb on but are sturdy and made out of hard plastic. The diameter at the end of the poles is 1/2 inches. The poles flange out 1&1/8 from the ends, and the flange is 5/8 inch long. The part of the pole that slides into the ball is 1/2" long. It is slotted, so it snaps into the balls securely. The plastic connector pieces are also sturdy and can be taken apart and Constructed many times. The product is made in China, and it is unclear what type of plastic the connector pieces and poles are made out of. The product is recommended for children around ages 8-9 and is tall enough for children up to 4'8".
